SYMPTOMS

When you use the Image command on the Insert menu to include an AVI file on your Web page, the video appears as a broken link in Microsoft Internet Explorer.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because the Image command generates the <IMG SRC> HyperText Markup Language tag, which is associated with a graphic file format, such as JPG and GIF.

RESOLUTION

To insert a AVI file as a dynamic element, use the Video command on the Insert menu. To do this, follow these steps:

  1. Start FrontPage Explorer. Open or create a FrontPage Web.
  2. If the AVI file does not need to be imported into the current Web, go to step 3. If the AVI file is not in the current FrontPage Web, import the file to the current Web. To do this, follow these steps:
    1. On the File menu, click Import.
    2. Click Add File.
    3. Select the AVI file you want to use and then click Open.
    4. Click OK.
  3. Open or create a page in FrontPage Editor.
  4. On the Insert menu, click Video.
  5. Click the Current FrontPage Web tab, select the AVI file you want to use and then click OK.
