SYMPTOMS
In Microsoft Project 98, in the Resource Usage view, you may see that a resource time-phased Schedule Variance (SV) does not equal the total SV values for the resource.
CAUSE
This behavior occurs when the following conditions are true:
- The resource was assigned to more than one task.
- A cost is assigned to the resource.
- At least one task that the resource was assigned to was deleted.
Resource time-phased SV values are using the rolled up assignments Budgeted Cost of Work Scheduled (BCWS) values instead of the resources BCWS values.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the versions of Microsoft Project listed above.
This problem was corrected in Microsoft Project 98 for Windows, Service Release 1 (SR-1).
