SYMPTOMS
If you try to use a database (.dbf) file created in Microsoft FoxPro as the data source for a mail merge in Microsoft Publisher, you may receive the following error message:
CAUSE
This problem occurs if the folder that contains the .dbf file contains another file with the same name that does not have an extension.
For example, if you try to open a file called Address.dbf, and there is another file in the same folder called Address, the problem occurs.
RESOLUTION
Rename the duplicate file so that it has an extension. In the example, change the name of the file from Address to Address.xxx.
