This article was previously published under Q177022

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Project 98, if you have a task that has leveling delay assigned to a resource assignment, delay may also be assigned to the resource assignment.

CAUSE

Delay will be added to a task when all of the following conditions are true:

  • Your resource pool was saved in MPP format.

    -and-

  • Your project was saved in a database format.

    -and-

  • The project shares resources from the pool.

    -and-

  • You followed these steps:

    1. You assign Leveling Delay to a resource.
    2. On the Tools menu, point to Resources, and click Update Pool.
    3. Save the project (still in the database format).
    4. Close both files.
    5. Reopen both files.

WORKAROUND

To workaround this problem, save both files in either MPP format or MPD format.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the versions of Microsoft Project listed above.

This problem was corrected in Microsoft Project 98 for Windows, Service Release 1 (SR-1).
