SYMPTOMS
In Microsoft Project 98, when you do any of the following
- Apply a resource view in a project.
-or-
- Open a project where a resource view is the active view.
-or-
- Save a file in the Microsoft Project Database (*.MPD) format.
you may receive one of the following error messages.
Windows 95
If you click Details, you receive an error message similar to the following:
Windows NT
CAUSE
This error occurs if the following conditions are true:
- There are more than 320 disjoint (unique) edited values in the resources' Work field contour.
NOTE: Disjoint means that each of the values in a set of numbers is unique. For example 1,2,3,4,5 is disjoint but 1,2,3,1,2 is not.-and-
- You save, close and then reopen the file, under any of the following conditions:
- The file is in a resource view when opened (the error will occur).
-or-
- The file is in a task view when opened, and you then apply a resource view or report.
-or-
- You save the file in the MPD format.
- The file is in a resource view when opened (the error will occur).
WORKAROUND
To work around this problem, do not exceed 320 unique edited resource contour values.
If you save the file in a resource view with more than 320 unique edits, you must re-create the file. If you save the file in a task view, you cannot use a resource view or you will receive the error described in the "Symptoms" section of this article.
