The Microsoft ActiMates character's movements become slow or jerky, or it's speech becomes slurred or stuttered.

You may notice one or more of the following:

  • The character doesn't say a greeting when you squeeze its hand.
  • The character's movements have slowed down or become jerky.
  • The character's speech has become slurred or stuttered.
  • If you're using the character with the ActiMates PC Pack or TV Pack Transmitter, its effective range to the computer or TV is noticeably reduced.

NOTE: Teletubbies do not interact with the PC Pack.

The ActiMates character's batteries are low.

Change or recharge the batteries.

ActiMates Barney, Arthur, and D.W. require six AA-size alkaline batteries (not included). ActiMates Teletubbies require 4 AA-size alkaline batteries (not included).

We recommend that you use alkaline batteries, either disposable or rechargeable. Other types of batteries will work, but they won't last as long.

Don't mix old and new batteries, or batteries of different types (for example, carbon and alkaline batteries).

Remove the batteries if the toy is to be stored for longer than a month without being used.

For more information about how to solve problems related to Microsoft ActiMates characters, use the ActiMates Troubleshooter located at the following Microsoft Web site:

ActiMates Teletubbies require a radio cartridge to work with the TV Pack. No other ActiMates characters requires a radio cartridge. Radio cartridges are available free of charge from Microsoft.
