PRB: Problems Using the Painterly Effects Tool in Eddie
Last reviewed: July 3, 1997
Article ID: Q170893
The information in this article applies to:
- Softimage Eddie for IRIX, version 3.5
- Softimage 3D for IRIX, version 3.7
SYMPTOMS
In the shell where SOFTIMAGE Eddie was started:
- if the .softimage file is the last setup file sourced, the Painterly Effects tool will not work in SI Eddie. However, it will work in a SOFTIMAGE 3D Paint tool.
- if the .eddie file is the last setup file sourced, the Painterly Effects tool will work in SI Eddie but will not work in the SOFTIMAGE 3D Paint tool. When this happens, you get the error message: "Cannot find the Painterly Effects library."
CAUSE
The environment variable that points to the Painterly Effects Library (SI_PAINTERLY_FX) has the same name but the filters that are required by SOFTIMAGE 3D and SI Eddie are different.
RESOLUTION
Start the two programs in separate shells, but remember Painterly Effects will not work in SOFTIMAGE 3D if it is first launched from the Render3D tool in SI Eddie.
