PPT97: Pressing ESC Halts Slide Narration Recording

SYMPTOMS

If you press ESC while recording a slide show narration, PowerPoint does not save the recorded sound for the slide that was active when you pressed ESC.

CAUSE

In PowerPoint, ESC is equivalent to canceling a function. In this case, it cancels the function of saving the sound file for the last slide in the presentation.

WORKAROUND

To retain the sound for the slide, use one of the following methods:


  • Allow the slide show to end naturally. -or-
  • Right-click anywhere on the current slide, and then click End Show. The slide show ends and the narration for the current slide is saved.
