SYMPTOMS

A computer running Windows NT 4.0 Server can display a blue screen error message when using downlevel (LAN Man 1.0 or earlier) clients on the network.

KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED*** Address fcb6e8f7 has base at fcb5d000 - SRV.SYS

NOTE: The second parameter in parenthesis will depend on your system configuration and may be different but will fall in range with Srv.sys.

CAUSE

This error occurs because the session table connection is set to null.


RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Windows NT 4.0 or Windows NT Server 4.0, Terminal Server Edition. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Windows NT 4.0 and Windows NT Server 4.0, Terminal Server Edition. This problem was first corrected in Windows NT 4.0 Service Pack 4.0 and Windows NT Server 4.0, Terminal Server Edition Service Pack 4.
