If you open a presentation, edit the notes on a single notes page, and then save and close the presentation, the notes on all the other notes pages may be deleted.
CAUSE
This problem only occurs when all of the following are true:
- The presentation was previously saved while you were in notes page view.
- While the presentation is open, you do not switch to any other view or go to any other notes page.
- The Allow Fast Saves check box on the Save tab in the Options dialog box (Tools menu) is selected.
WORKAROUND
There are several ways to prevent this problem from happening.
Method 1: Turn off the Allow Fast Save option
- On the Tools menu, click Options, and then click the Save tab.
- Click to clear the Allow Fast Saves check box.
- Click OK.
Method 2: Switch to another view before you save your presentation
Switch to another view, such as slide view, slide sorter view, or outline view before you close or save your presentation.
Method 3: View the other notes pages before you save the presentation
When you edit the text on one notes page, view the notes on another notes page before you save the presentation.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft PowerPoint 97 for Windows. This problem was corrected in Microsoft PowerPoint 97 Service Release 1.
