SYMPTOMS

A SQL Server dump or load with a tape may fail on a computer running Windows NT 3.51 and some SCSI controllers.


WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, do any of the following:

  • Try to put the tape drive on a different SCSI adapter.
  • Upgrade to Windows NT 4.0.
  • Dump to disk files instead of tape files.


STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft SQL Server version 6.5. This problem has been corrected in U.S. Service Pack 3 for Microsoft SQL Server version 6.5. For more information, contact your primary support provider.
