SYMPTOMS
After you install the Data Access Pack included in the Microsoft Office 97 ValuPack, the ODBCKEY.INF file in your Windows\System folder may contain German character strings in one of the sections in the file.
RESOLUTION
Follow these steps to remove the unnecessary lines from the ODBCKEY.INF file:
- Make a backup copy of the ODBCKEY.INF file. The file is located in your Windows\System folder.
Use a text editor, such as Notepad, to open the ODBCKEY.INF file and remove the following lines:
bit Oracle-Treiber Driver=vsorac32.dll Setup=orstub32.dll SQLLevel=1 FileUsage=0 DriverODBCVer=02.50 ConnectFunctions=YYY APILevel=1 [DA Translators] Name=MS Code Page-[ASCII 220]bersetzer Translator=MSCPXL32.DLL Setup=MSCPXL32.DLL
- Save the file and quit the editor.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Access 97.
MORE INFORMATION
If you already have a version of the ODBCKEY.INF file on your computer when you install the Data Access Pack, the Setup program may not overwrite it with the version containing the German string. Therefore, your ODBCKEY.INF file may not contain the unnecessary sections after you install the Data Access Pack.
