SYMPTOMS

When you print a Microsoft Excel 97 worksheet that contains a print area that consists of more than 32,767 pages, you may receive the following error message:

Your entry cannot be used. An integer or decimal number may be required.

CAUSE

This problem occurs when you type any number greater than 32,767 in the From or To boxes under Print Range in the Print dialog box.

NOTE: Theses boxes are too narrow to display any numbers greater than two digits in length.

The highest page number that you can print from a print range on a worksheet is 32,767.

WORKAROUND

To work around this behavior, create separate print ranges that contain no more than 32,767 pages each.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Excel 97 for Windows.
