SUMMARY

The FrontPage WebBot components that interact with your Web browser will not function when the FrontPage web is disk-based. The browse-time WebBot components will only function through an HTTP server.

In addition, the Internet Database Connector runs only when it is served on a Microsoft Personal Web Server for Windows 97, Windows NT Peer Web Services for NT 4.0 Workstation, and Microsoft Internet Information Server for NT Server.

A disk-based Web can be identified in the title bar of the FrontPage Explorer when you view the Web. A disk-based Web will have a drive letter and backslashes within parenthesis, as in the following example:

(c:\myweb)


A server-based Web will have "http:" and forward slashes within parenthesis, as in the following example:

If you want to enable the WebBot browse-time components, copy your disk- based Web to an HTTP server. FrontPage 97 with Bonus pack comes with two Web servers to choose from: the FrontPage Personal Web Server and the Microsoft Personal Web Server.

Also, note that when you create a large disk-based Web, the status bar in FrontPage Explorer may display the "updating text indices" message. However, this information is misleading, because there are no indices on a disk-based Web.
