SYMPTOMS
If you run Publisher on Windows NT, version 3.51, and try to save a publication across a network to a computer that is running Windows 95, you receive the following message:
If you click Yes, your file saves correctly. If you click No, a file with the name you typed is created on the Windows 95 machine anyway. This file has a size of 0 bytes.
It doesn't matter which file name you try to give your publication, or whether there is a file with that name on the Windows 95 machine.
This message does not appear if you save to another Windows NT machine, or if you save from a Windows 95 machine. This problem does not occur with Windows NT 4.0.
CAUSE
When you save a file from a Windows NT machine to a Windows 95 machine, a 0 byte file of that name is created by the Windows NT file called Commdlg.dll. Publisher initially saves your publication as a temporary file. It then changes the name of the temporary file to the name you specified. However, in this case it detects the 0 byte file and displays the message.
RESOLUTION
When you receive the message, click Yes, and the publication will be saved correctly.
