SYMPTOMS
When you display a data table in a chart that you create from a large number of data points, not all the data points in the series appear in the data table. Additionally, some labels in the data table may appear truncated.
CAUSE
This behavior occurs if there is not enough space in the chart. This behavior is especially noticeable when you use a data series with many data points.
WORKAROUND
To display more data points in the data table, use either of the following methods.
Method 1
Reduce the font size in the data table. By reducing the font size, you allow more data points to appear in the data table.
- Click anywhere on the data table in the chart.
- On the Format menu, click Selected Data Table.
- On the Font tab, choose a smaller font size in the Size box, and click OK.
Method 2
If the chart is embedded, increase the size of the chart. You can increase the chart size by dragging one of the handles on the edge of the chart.
Note that although these workarounds allow you to display more data points in the data table, there may not be sufficient room to display all of the data points in a large series.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
