FP1: Image Map, WebBot Disappear After Page Is Saved, Reopened
Article ID: Q150683
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft FrontPage for Windows, versions 1.0, 1.0a, 1.1
SYMPTOMS
When you create an image map or insert a WebBot component on a page and then save the page, the image map or WebBot component may disappear the next time you open the page.
CAUSE
When you use FrontPage Editor only to modify existing pages, advanced features will be ignored.
Image maps and WebBot components require the additional functionality that the FrontPage Server Extensions provide.
For these features to function properly, you must use FrontPage Editor in conjunction with both FrontPage Explorer and a Web server that supports the FrontPage Server Extensions.
RESOLUTION
When you modify a FrontPage Web page in FrontPage Editor, make sure that FrontPage Explorer is running and that you are using a Web server that supports the FrontPage Server Extensions.
If you need to use another HyperText Markup Language (HTML) editor, import the edited HTML file from the FrontPage Temp folder after you make changes using the Import command on the File menu in FrontPage Explorer. Importing the file ensures that all the correct supporting files are correctly updated.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was corrected in Microsoft FrontPage 97 for Windows with Bonus Pack.
MORE INFORMATION
B default, FrontPage saves HTML pages in a Web folder that is a subfolder of the Content folder. For example, if your Web is called "MyWeb," the pages are saved in the Content\MyWeb folder.
