PRB: Can't Run Eddie Stand-Alone (eddiebatch) on a Remote Host

Last reviewed: April 29, 1996
Article ID: Q150358

The information in this article applies to:

  • Softimage Eddie for IRIX, version 3.2a

SYMPTOMS

It is impossible to run the Softimage Eddie stand-alone (eddiebatch) on a remote host even though the following steps have been completed:

  1. You used rlogin to log onto the remote host and entered this command:

    which eddiebatch

  2. You supplied the correct path to the executable file. However, when the command "rsh hostname which eddiebatch" is entered, a correct path cannot be found.

CAUSE

By design, the .eddie file, which sets the path to eddiebatch, is being sourced by the remote account's .login file rather than by its .cshrc file.

STATUS

This behavior is by design.
