PRB: Eddie Reconfigures Image File & Shifts Contrast Values

Last reviewed: April 29, 1996
Article ID: Q150357

The information in this article applies to:

  • Softimage Eddie for IRIX, version 3.2a

SYMPTOMS

When loading a 16-bit .tif file, Softimage Eddie checks the file's header for the minimum and maximum bit values. If they are other than the complete 16-bit range (0 to 65535), by design Eddie reconfigures the image file to fit this range. This produces a shift in the images' contrast values.

RESOLUTION

To avoid this behavior, change the minimum and maximum bit value tags in .tif file headers to 0 (minimum=0) and 65535 (maximum=65535).

STATUS

This behavior is by design.
