SYMPTOMS
After Bob 1.0a Setup has finished “searching for installed components”, you receive the following error message:
Microsoft Bob Setup SETUP CANNOT CONTINUE! There is an older version of Microsoft Bob in the directory shown below.
Directory: C:
You need to return the software and get the Microsoft Bob Plus Pack instead.
Contact Microsoft at 1-800-426-9400 (US) or 1-800-933-4750 (Canada) for information on how to get the Microsoft Bob Plus Pack.
Press the Exit Setup button to exit Setup.
CAUSE
Because Bob 1.0a is not designed as an upgrade package, Setup checks for existing versions of Bob before installing. If it finds a file named Utopia.dll or a Bob folder, it refuses to continue.
This problem can also occur if the Bob Setup file (Setup.stf) is damaged or has been moved or deleted.
RESOLUTION
To end the error messages and complete your Bob installation, complete the following instructions.

Delete the following file from your hard drive:
Utopia.dll
Edit the [MS-BOB] section of the Win.ini file, and put a semicolon (;) in front of the UtopiaDir= line.
For example, change the following lines:
[MS-BOB] UtopiaDir=C:
to:
[MS-BOB] ;UtopiaDir=C:
Run Bob 1.0a Setup again.
