BUG: Too Many Shaders in a Scene Can Cause 3D to Quit

Last reviewed: April 19, 1996
Article ID: Q149738

The information in this article applies to:

  • Softimage 3D for IRIX, version 3.0

SYMPTOMS

Depending on the system configuration, there is a limit to the number of shaders you can have in a scene. Too many shaders can cause Softimage 3D to quit either when reloading scenes or when re-saving scenes. This has nothing to do with the actual scene.

RESOLUTION

Depending on the system configuration, ensure that you do not exceed approximately 150-200 shaders per scene.

STATUS

Softimage has confirmed this to be a bug in the Softimage product listed at the beginning of this article. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.

NOTE: Softimage Inc. is a wholly owned subsidiary of Microsoft Corporation.
