BUG: Softimage 3D Renderer Ignores mental ray -j Option

Last reviewed: April 19, 1996
Article ID: Q149728

The information in this article applies to:

  • Softimage 3D for IRIX, version 3.0

SYMPTOMS

When a scene that is set to render in the mental ray renderer is rendered in the Softimage 3D renderer (soft -R), the -j option in the command line is ignored.

RESOLUTION

When the rendering type is set to the Softimage 3D renderer, (soft -R), the -j option performs correctly.

When the rendering type is set to mental ray, save more than one scene, and be sure to specify the different frames to be rendered; then proceed to render in the mental ray renderer.

STATUS

Softimage has confirmed this to be a bug in the Softimage product listed at the beginning of this article. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
