Article ID: Q143323

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft FrontPage for Windows, versions 1.0, 1.1
  • Microsoft FrontPage Personal Web Server, versions 1.0, 1.1

SYMPTOMS

When you submit a form that was created with the FrontPage Editor, you receive one of the following error messages:

   Unable to open http://<servername>/--VERMEER-SELF--.
The site reports that the item you requested could not be found.

-or-

   404 Not Found
The requested URL /--VERMEER-SELF-- was not found on this server.

CAUSE

This problem occurs if you created a form page in the FrontPage Editor, but you saved it to a disk rather to a Web. As a result, the code for the WebBot component is still part of the HTML page.

RESOLUTION

To avoid the above error messages when you submit your form, use the following steps:

1. Start the Personal Web Server.

2. Start the FrontPage Explorer, and open your Web.

3. Start the FrontPage Editor, and open your form page.

4. On the File menu, click Save As, and then click OK.
