To scan a floppy disk for macro viruses in Word documents:
- On the File menu, click Open.
- In the Files of Type list, select Document Templates.
- Locate the Scanprot.dot template. Depending on where you installed it, this template may be in the Templates folder or in the Word folder.
- Select Scanprot.dot and click Open (or OK).
- If you are running Word for the Macintosh, type the title of the floppy disk followed by a colon in the Batch Cleanup Procedure window. For example, type

If you are running Word for Windows (any version), type the drive letter of the floppy disk followed by a colon and a backslash in the Batch Cleanup Procedure window. For example, type:
a:\
- Click OK.
Word will now scan the floppy disk for Word documents that may contain suspicious macros.
