SYMPTOMS

Internet Explorer version 3.0 has some problems on RISC-based computers when making Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) or Hypertext Transfer Protocol Service (HTTPS) connections.

CAUSE

The RISC problems are due to unaligned memory accesses on certain SSL messages. Internet Explorer requires additional SSL certificates to access certain sites.

WORKAROUND

Obtain the fix mentioned below or wait for the next Service Pack.

The fix adds new SSL certificates.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Internet Explorer version 3.0 for Windows NT. This problem was corrected in the latest Windows NT 4.0 U.S. Service Pack. For information on obtaining the Service Pack, query on the following word in the Microsoft Knowledge Base (without the spaces):
