This article contains a Microsoft Visual Basic for Applications macro (Sub procedure) that displays the complete path and file name of a workbook.

  1. Type the following macro code in a module sheet in a new workbook.

          Sub GetPath()
             MsgBox ThisWorkbook.FullName
          End Sub
                            
  2. Save the workbook.
  3. To run the macro, position the insertion point in the "GetPath" line, and press F5.

    A message box will appear with the full path and file name for the active workbook.
