SYMPTOMS

SNMP on Windows NT Workstation return a corrupt value when the Interface Object's MAC address is read. SNMP returns four or five bytes of the six byte address.

The following command line entries will reproduce the problem. Notice that the Windows NT server returns a correct value for ifPhysAddress.2 while the two workstations return corrupt information.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Windows NT Workstation version 3.51 We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
