SUMMARY

The Bob Letter Writer allows you to insert pictures into your letter. You may receive the following message when you try to open the picture in Paint (Windows 95) or Paintbrush (Windows 3.x).

The command you have chosen will close the connection between this open embedded object and <name of your letter>. Do you want to update the open embedded object before proceeding ?"

You can draw a picture in Paint or Paintbrush and insert the picture into the Bob Letter Writer.

To insert a picture into the Bob Letter Writer do the following:

Windows 95

  1. Start Paint before starting Bob.
  2. Click the Start button, point to Programs, point to Accessories, then click Paint.
  3. On the File menu, click Open.
  4. Change to the folder or disk that contains your picture.
  5. Click the file name and click Open.
  6. On the Edit menu, click Select All.
  7. On the Edit menu, click Copy.
  8. On the File menu, click Exit.
  9. Start Bob and sign in.
  10. Start the Letter Writer and open the letter you want to add the picture to.
  11. Press CTRL+V to paste the picture into your letter.

You may need to move the picture to the desired location.

Windows 3.1, 3.11

  1. Start the Letter Writer and open the letter you want to insert the picture into.

  2. click the Add An Object squishy

  3. In the What Do You Want To Add dialog, click, Show Every Available Object.

  4. On the list, click Paintbrush Picture.

  5. On the File menu, and click Open. You will receive the message:

    The command you have chosen will close the connection between this open embedded object and <name of your letter>. Do you want to update the open embedded object before proceeding ?

  6. Click No.

NOTE: If you choose Yes, Paintbrush will disappear and you will have a
blank object container inserted in your letter. Paintbrush will still
be open behind the Letter Writer when you exit. If you use ALT+TAB, you
can bring Paintbrush to the front to complete the process.
  1. Change to the folder or disk containing your picture, click the file name and then click OK.

  2. Use the scissors tool to outline the picture, and on the Edit menu, click Cut. The scissors tool is the picture of the scissors and a square dotted line.

  3. On the File menu, click Exit.

  4. click No when prompted:

    The image has changed…Do you want to save current changes?

  5. In the Letter Writer, press CTRL+V to paste the picture into your letter.
