Money 98 and Money 97
Later versions of Money do not install sound entries for the system. All sounds (including Kerchunk.wav) are internal to the program and play if Windows sounds play correctly. If Windows cannot play sounds, contact your Windows support provider or your sound card manufacturer.
If the opening musical sound for Money does not play, but you hear other sound when the program is running, follow these steps to check if you have a sound assigned to the Open Program event:
- Click the Start button, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
- Double-click the Sounds icon.
- Scroll through the Events section until you see the Windows event called Open Program.
Click Open Program.
- In the Named box, check to see if a sound is assigned.
Note If a sound is assigned, this sound overrides the opening sound of Money. To hear the Money opening sound, you must set the Open Program sound to (None).
Sound Troubleshooting
If the sound does not play and you are using a sound card to play sounds, verify that the card has been installed correctly with its associated drivers. For assistance contact the sound card manufacturer or contact your computer vendor.
If the sound does play, check that the appropriate .wav file is assigned to the Money Transaction Entry in Control Panel.
Money installs a new sound item in the Windows Control Panel Sound settings for the wave (.wav) sound that is played when a transaction is entered. The name of the event is Money Transaction Entry and the default sound file is named Kerchunk.wav.
- Verify that a sound scheme has been selected and that the selected sound scheme has the sound for a Money Transaction Entry assigned to a specific file.
Windows 98:- Click the Start button, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
- In Control Panel, double-click the Sounds icon.
- In the Sounds Properties sheet, scroll until you see an entry called Money Transaction Entry.
Click the entry. - In the section labeled Sound, the file that is assigned to the sound should be listed in the Name box.
For example: C:\Windows\Kerchunk.wav
- If there is nothing in the Name box, reinstall Money.
- If Kerchunk.wav is assigned to the Money Transaction Entry, open the Win.ini file (in Notepad or Wordpad) and verify or add the following lines:
Note If you installed Money in a different directory than the default C:\Msmoney, you will need to edit the lines above accordingly.
