SYMPTOMS
In Microsoft Project, when you enter nonworking days on a resource calendar for a resource assigned to a task, if you enter delay for the task, the start date for this resource may be incorrectly delayed.
CAUSE
This problem occurs for example if one of the resources assigned to a task has calendar exceptions that cause the resource to start on the task after the task start date. If you then enter delay on the task, the resource calendar exceptions are added to the delay, so that the resource is not scheduled to start the task when they could. The task delay is added to the calendar exception and behaves like a resource delay.
For example, if a resource assigned to your task has calendar exceptions that delay the from starting the task by two days (assuming another resource can start the task on time), if you then delay the task by two days, the resource is not scheduled to start work on the task until two days after the task Start date, even though these are working days for the resource.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the versions of Microsoft Project listed above.
