SYMPTOMS
========
When you try to print a three-panel brochure using the PageWizard in
Publisher 2.0a with the Digital 550 IC printer, you may encounter
the following general protection fault (GP fault):
MSPUB caused a GPF in UNIDRV.DLL at 000D:18C4.
The error message will give you the option to Close or Ignore. If you
choose Close, Publisher will close, and you may find you've been switched
out to MS-DOS. Some errors that have been recorded after choosing Close
are:
OLDSPL caused a GPF in module KRNL386.EXE at 0001:4EE1.
Emm Error #6 at 00BA9.
CAUSE
=====
This problem is caused by an error that occurs in the Digital printer
driver version 1.62 regarding the defined print regions.
The printer driver has a default printing region of .25 inch on the top,
left, and right sides of the page and .67 inch on the bottom.
WORKAROUNDS
===========
There are three workarounds you can try.
Method 1:
Click Ignore in the error message dialog box twice every time it
appears; the printer will complete its print job of the brochure.
Method 2:
Redefine the printable region by doing the following:
a. On the Layout menu, click Layout Guides.
b. Change the top, left, and right margin guides to .25 inch and
the bottom guide to .67 inch.
c. Click OK.
d. On the Edit menu, click Select All.
e. Group the page by clicking the Group button.
f. Resize the page to fall within the printable region.
g. On the File menu, click Print to print the brochure.
Method 3:
Try printing to a compatible device such as the
Hewlett-Packard (HP) DeskJet 500 or any PCL level 3
printer.
