SYMPTOMS
When you use a compact disc as a qualifying upgrade product for Microsoft Office 7.0, you may receive a blue screen with the following error message:
WORKAROUND
To work around this problem, reinsert the Office compact disc. When the auto-run screen reappears, do not click Install. Instead, minimize the auto- run screen and continue running Setup.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.

This problem occurs only when the qualifying product does not reside on the hard disk and you attempt to locate the qualifying product on a compact disc. Setup does not check for a qualifying product on the CD-ROM drive and displays the error message. After you reinsert the Office compact disc, the Setup program continues. Note that after you reinsert the Office compact disc, the auto-run screen appears. Clicking Install causes another instance of Setup to start. You then receive the following error message:
Rather than clicking Install, minimize the auto-run screen and continue running the first instance of Setup.
