SYMPTOMS

If you enable "Check spelling of messages before sending" in Windows NT Mail (MSMAIL32.EXE), exit Mail, and send mail with a file attachment in File Manager, the following Dr. Watson for Windows NT error message appears and File Manager closes:

An application error has occurred and an application error log is being generated.

WINFILE.exe

Exception: access violation (0xc0000005), Address: <Hex address>

RESOLUTION

To correct this problem, upgrade to Windows NT 3.51 (if you have not already done so) and install the latest U.S. Service Pack for Windows NT version 3.51.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Windows NT versions 3.1, 3.5, and 3.51. This problem has been corrected in the latest U.S. Service Pack for Windows NT version 3.51.
