- Microsoft Bob version 1.0 - Microsoft Windows operating system version 3.x

SUMMARY

In Microsoft Bob Great Greetings, if you try to open a card that was saved to a floppy disk from a previous installation of Microsoft Bob, you receive an error message similar to the following:

 Uh-Oh! There's an error!
 That just didn't work.
 Nobody told me why.
 Please try it again.

MORE INFORMATION

This problem is caused by a difference in the ID that is assigned to the program each time it is set up. To open the card, you must first comment out the SystemId in the [MS-Bob] section of Win.ini. Follow the steps below to comment out this ID:

  1. On the File menu in Program Manager, click Run.

  2. Type “win.ini” (without the quotation marks) in the command line box, and then click OK.

This opens Win.ini in Notepad for editing.

  3. Scroll down to the [MS-Bob] section and locate the line that starts with “SystemId=” .

  4. Position the cursor at the start of the line (in front of SystemId), and type a semi-colon (;) to comment out this line.

  5. On the File menu in Notepad, click Exit.

  6. Click Yes to save changes.

You can now start Microsoft Bob and Great Greetings and open the card that is on the floppy disk.
