SUMMARY
Because of physical read limitations of some CD-ROM drives, you may not be able to access some files and directories on the Complete Baseball 1994 CD- ROM. This article lists some of those files and directories and explains how to test your CD-ROM drive.

The CD-ROM drive may have difficulty reading the final three directories, listed below, from the Complete Baseball CD-ROM:

The Complete Baseball 1994 CD-ROM contains 590 MB of data. The final file on the CD-ROM is ZZMMCAT.DIB.
NOTE: The file ZIMAGES.M11 is very large (434 MB) and should be copied to the NUL device to verify the CD-ROM drive can read the file.
Testing Your CD-ROM Drive
To ensure the integrity of your files that you have copied from your CD-ROM drive to your hard disk drive, compare the files using the MS-DOS File Compare program (FC.EXE). This test can be used to determine if the CD-ROM subsystem is functioning properly at the device driver or hardware level(s).
The FC.EXE utility is a useful method for testing problems related to general protection (GP) faults or other critical errors (such as read errors or out of memory messages) that may occur while running a CD- ROM application with Windows.
Try to copy one of the following files to your hard disk drive. For more information about how to perform this task in Windows, see your Windows printed documentation or online Help.

If the following error message appears:
CDR101: Not Ready
the CD player cannot read the disk at the specified location.
If the file copies, test the file’s integrity by using FC.EXE with the /B (binary) switch. For example, if your CD-ROM drive is drive D, and your hard disk drive is drive C, type the following command to compare the NGPOPD.DIB file on your CD with the NGPOPD.DIB file on your hard disk drive:
fc /b d:\zzmmcat\dibs2\ngpopd.dib c:\ngpopd.dib
Type the following to copy the file zimages.m11 to the NULL device:
copy x:\baggage\zimages.m11 nul
If you receive errors, the CD-ROM drive is having problems reading the CD-ROM at that location.
