The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Works for the Macintosh, versions 4.0, 4.0a, and 4.0b

SYMPTOMS

When you print custom-size forms from the Database, an incorrect number of forms may print on a page. Also, the forms may be smaller than the size in the New/Setup Form dialog box.

For example: A 0.5 inch-high form printed on a portrait oriented page using 0.5 inch top and bottom margins should print 20 forms. In Works, 21 forms print, with each form slightly undersized.

WORKAROUND

You can adjust the number of forms on a page with the Reduce or Enlarge feature in the Page Setup dialog box. Use the following steps to enlarge the forms:

  1. From the View menu, choose Design View.

  2. From the File menu, choose Page Setup.

  3. In the Reduce or Enlarge box, type a percentage slightly larger than 100 percent.

NOTE: It may require experimentation to find the correct percentage.

  4. Click OK.

  5. From the View menu, choose Data View.

  6. From the File menu, choose Print Preview.

  7. Check the number of forms on the page. If the number is still too high, repeat steps 1-6 and increase the percentage of enlargement. If the number of forms is now too low, repeat steps 1-6 and decrease the percentage slightly.

For example, in the example cited in the Symptoms section of this article, if you adjust the Enlargement percentage from 100 percent to 105 percent, the correct number of forms print.

NOTE: Because this workaround adjusts the entire form size, it may be necessary to adjust form width and field placement if information is missing.

Make sure to use the Reduce or Enlarge setting to adjust the number of forms that print on the page. Adding to the height of the form or increasing the spacing between forms will not correct the problem.
