Money: Using Find May Return Unexpected Transactions

SUMMARY
In Microsoft Money, an unexpected transaction may be found when you use the Find command.
CAUSE
The Find command in Money finds any instance of the search string within a field, not just an exact match.
RESOLUTION
Money 98, 5.0 and 4.0 for Windows 95 list all the transactions found. To find your transaction, scroll through the list.
In Money 1.0, 2.0, or 3.0, click Find Next until you select the correct transaction.
MORE INFORMATION
When you perform a string comparison, Money does not have the ability to match only the whole field or the whole word. References to the search string within a field or word will also be selected.
This occurs with numbers, dates, or text. The following are examples of search results:
- If you searched for “101,” Money also finds transactions that include 101, such as “1010,” “1101,” “2101.”
- Searching for “1/1/95” also finds 11/1/95.
- Searching for “abc” also finds “zabcd.”
