SYMPTOMS
In Microsoft Project, when you print or print preview a crosstab report, summary task Cost or Work may be less than what is displayed for that summary task in a task view.
CAUSE
Summary Cost and Work is calculated differently in a crosstab report than it is in a task report or task view. In a crosstab report, Cost for a summary task includes only Fixed Cost and cost for resources assigned to the Summary Task itself. It does not include the total of its subtasks. Additionally, Summary Task Work includes only Work for resources that are assigned to that Summary Task.
Hours that are not assigned to a resource will not appear in the crosstab report. Therefore, the crosstab report will show nothing for the Summary Task if the Work and Cost are assigned to the subtasks. If the subtasks are shown in the report (that is, if the Summary task is expanded to show the subtasks), the report will show Assigned Work and Fixed Costs.
