SUMMARY

If you own more than one rental property, you need to report each property's income and expenses separately on the Schedule E tax form.

In Microsoft Money, if you track your rental properties by using Classifications, you can create a customized tax report to show the breakdown of income and expenses for each property.

To create a customized tax report, use the appropriate method for your version of Money.

Money 99 or Later

  1. In the Gallery of Reports and Charts or Reports Gallery, depending on your version of Money, click Taxes in the left pane, and then double-click Tax-related Transactions.
  2. Click Customize.
  3. In the Customize Report dialog box, change the name of the report in the Title box. (This step is optional.)
  4. Under Report Type, click Tax Summary.
  5. In the Columns list, click Total Only.
  6. On the Category tab, click Clear All.
  7. Click each category from the category list that applies to your rental properties.
  8. To see your report, click Apply, and then click OK.

Money 97 and Money 98

  1. In the Gallery of Reports and Charts, click Taxes in the left pane, and then double-click Tax-related Transactions.

  5. Under Include Transactions, click Select Transactions.
  6. On the Categories tab, click Selected Categories.

  10. To see your report, click Apply, and then click View.
