- Microsoft Windows 95

SYMPTOMS

The status bar in Microsoft Exchange shows that items are present in the current folder, but some or all of those items are not visible.

CAUSE

A message filter is being applied to the current folder. Note that when a filter is being applied to the current folder, the Filter icon (a funnel with three dashed lines) is displayed in the status bar.

RESOLUTION

To turn off the filter for the current folder, follow these steps:

  1. On the View menu, click Filter.
  2. Click the Clear All button.
  3. Click the OK button.

MORE INFORMATION

Using a filter in Microsoft Exchange causes the viewer to display only those items that meet the set of conditions you specify. For example, if you want to view mail from only one person you can filter out all other messages by specifying that only messages received from that one person should be displayed. Note that if you enter more than one condition in the Filter dialog box, all of the conditions must be met for a particular message to be displayed.

REFERENCES

For more information about filtering messages in Microsoft Exchange, view the “Finding and Organizing Items in a Folder” topic in the Microsoft Exchange Help file.
