SUMMARY

There are times when you may wish to save a group of messages to a text file for editing and consolidation. The following explains how to save multiple messages into one file.

First Method

  1. Sort your messages as necessary to accomplish your editing task.
  2. From the File menu, choose Save. You will see the Save Message dialog box. Save the first message.
  3. Select the second message you wish to save in the file.
  4. From the File menu, choose Save. You will see the Save Message dialog box. Save the second message to the same name as the first message.
  5. When the next dialog box asks if you want to Append, Overwrite, or Cancel saving the second message to the same name, select Append. This will save the second message at the end of the existing file.

Second Method

  1. Select the messages you want saved to a file.


To select multiple messages with the mouse, select the first message, then hold the CTRL key, and select the additional messages.

To select a continuous list with the keyboard, select the first message, then hold SHIFT key, and use the up or down arrow keys to select the messages. the

  1. From the File menu, choose Save As, and provide a file name.

NOTE: These steps will allow the message text (messages without attachments) of multiple messages to be saved as a single file. If any objects are linked only the acknowledgment of the file will appear in the following format:

<<File Attachment: filename >>.


If any objects are embedded, the acknowledgment will be in the following format:

<<OLE Object: application version filetype>>
