SYMPTOMS
In Microsoft Project, the "Tip of the Day" has an incorrect path to find the sample templates that come with Microsoft Project. The "Tip of the Day" states the following:
Sample templates are provided to get you started. These include templates for planning a special event, developing software, and creating a marketing plan. Click the Open button on the Standard toolbar, and select a template from the TEMPLATE directory.
The last sentence is incorrect. It should instead state the following:
Click the Open button on the Standard toolbar, and select a template from the LIBRARY directory.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.

The sample templates can be used as a starting point for creating and organizing projects. The templates come from a variety of industries and offer standard approaches to managing different types of projects. When you open any of the templates, you will work in a copy of the template file so that you can customize it to suit your needs.
There are seven sample template files. For more information on these templates, open TEMPLATE.WRI in Microsoft Windows Write. This file is located in the same directory as the sample templates.
