BUG: LASER.APP Print Preview Causes GP Fault

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft FoxPro for Windows, version 2.6a

SYMPTOMS

You will encounter a general protection (GP) fault if you are using the 'MS Super VGA 800x600 16 colors' video driver and have a HP DeskJet 500 printer driver installed as the default driver, and you try to do a print preview in the LASER.APP application in FoxPro for Windows.

WORKAROUND

Try one of the following workarounds:

  • Use the MS Super VGA 1024x768 256 color small fonts video driver with the HP LaserJet IIIsi print driver installed. -or-
  • Use the MS Super VGA 1024x768 256 color small fonts video driver with the HP DeskJet 500 print driver installed. -or-
  • Use the MS Super VGA 800x600 16 color video driver with the HP LaserJet IIIsi print driver installed.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.

Steps to Reproduce Behavior

1. Using Window for Workgroups version 3.11, set video driver to

   "MS Super VGA 800x600 16 colors."

2. Set default printer driver to "HP DeskJet 500" 3. Load FoxPro for Windows.

4. SET DEFA TO SAMPLE\LASER\CORSPLAT

5. Execute the DO LASER.APP command.

6. Click Report, and then click Print Preview.

At this poing the GP fault occurs.
