SYMPTOMS
In PowerPoint 4.0, you cannot use the TAB key to move text to another outline level.
CAUSE
The TAB key does not work to move text to another level if your current text does not have bullets. This means that if you format one text level in the Master Body Text object not to use a bullet, you will not be able to move to any lower level by using the TAB key. The TAB key will simply move text to the right without changing its style to match that of the lower indent level.
RESOLUTION
If you want to have Body Text objects where the First Level Text has no bullets but the Second and subsequent levels do have bullets, use the Demote (Indent More) button on the toolbar to move text from the First to Second indent level.
