PRB: Additional WM_SETFONT Message in Hebrew Windows

ID: Q123199

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Windows Software Development Kit (SDK) for Windows version 3.1 (Hebrew version)

SYMPTOMS

Hebrew Windows requires two fonts, one English font and one Hebrew font. When an application creates a dialog specifying an English font only, Hebrew Windows usually creates an additional font. Additional WM_SETFONT messages are sent to dialog controls prior to the controls being shown on screen. A control can receive multiple WM_SETFONT messages just before it becomes visible.

RESOLUTION

Applications should ignore these WM_SETFONT messages if they do not need to process it.

STATUS

This behavior is by design.
