SUMMARY

Grouped objects are two or more objects that have been joined together with the Group button. You can group several objects together so you can easily move or resize them all without changing their relative size, position, or layering.

To Group Objects

Method 1: Group Objects by Selecting Them One-by-one

  1. While continuously holding down SHIFT, click each object you want to group.
  2. From the Layout menu, choose Group Objects.

Click the Group button attached to the lower-right corner of the selection box. This button appears as two puzzle pieces; one black, one white. One set of handles appears around the group of objects, and the handles for individual objects disappear.

Method 2: Group Adjacent Objects by "corralling" Them

  1. From the left toolbar, choose the Selection tool.
  2. Position the mouse pointer outside of the objects you want to select.
  3. While holding down the mouse button, drag the mouse until all the objects you want to group are surrounded by a dotted box.
  4. Release the mouse button. All the objects that were entirely within the dotted box are now selected.
  5. Click the Group button attached to the lower-right corner of the selection box (or choose Group Objects from the Layout menu).

Method 3: Group the Entire Publication

  1. From the Edit menu, choose the Select All option.
  2. Click the Group button attached to the lower-right corner of the selection box (or choose Group Objects from the Layout menu).

To Ungroup Objects

  1. Select the group of objects by clicking anywhere within the group.
  2. Click the Group button attached to the lower-right corner of the selection box (or choose Ungroup Objects from the Layout menu).
