CTRL+Left Mouse Click Disabled with MasterWord 6.0

Q120673

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Word for Windows, versions 6.0, 6.0a

SYMPTOMS

Drag-and-drop copying and the Select All command using CTRL+left mouse click (in the left margin) do not work when you have MasterWord, version 6.0, installed. Drag-and-drop editing is not affected.

CAUSE

MasterWord installs several WLLs (Word Link Libraries). One of these files, POPSPELL.WLL, is selected automatically when you install MasterWord. POPSPELL.WLL is a spelling utility that changes the CTRL+left mouse click functionality in Word.

WORKAROUND

To restore Word's CTRL+left mouse click functionality, you must disable the POPSPELL.WLL. To do this, from the File menu, choose Templates and clear the POPSPELL.WLL add-in check box. Choose the OK button.
