PUB2: Crop Marks Print on Business Cards When Disabled

Q120123

-------------------------------------------------------------------
The information in this article applies to:

 - Microsoft Publisher for Windows, versions 2.0, 2.0a
-------------------------------------------------------------------

SUMMARY
=======

When you print business cards from Microsoft Publisher, the crop marks will
appear even if the Print Crop Marks check box has been disabled in the
Print dialog box.

STATUS
======

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Publisher versions 2.0 and
2.0a. This problem was corrected in Publisher version 3.0 for Windows 95.

MORE INFORMATION
================

The Business Card & Paper PageWizard displays what appears to be crop
marks around the business card on the first page. These are actually
short line segments placed on the page to simulate crop marks. Because
they are not actually crop marks, disabling them in the Print dialog
box has no effect. To prevent these marks from printing, they must be
removed.

Follow these steps to remove the crop marks:

1. Press and hold the SHIFT key while clicking each of the line segments
   until they are all selected. (As soon as the second line is selected, a
   marquee selection and grouping tool appears. This behavior is normal and
   can be ignored.)

3. Release the SHIFT key.

4. Press the DEL key.

The crop marks are now deleted.
