The information in this article applies to:

SYMPTOMS

When you print to a Hewlett-Packard (HP) DeskJet 500 Series printer with the HP DeskJet 500 Series printer driver version 4.0 or 4.1, text and/or graphics near the top and bottom margins are truncated.

CAUSE

The HP DeskJet 500 Series printer driver has minimum margins of 0.33 inch at the top and 0.67 inch at the bottom for all printing modes. Previous versions of this printer driver have minimum margins of 0.5 inch at both the top and bottom of the page. If you have documents created while using a previous version(s) of this HP printer driver series, these documents may need to be reformatted to accommodate the new driver’s minimum margins.

RESOLUTION

The following information is taken from the HP DeskJet 500 Series version 4.0 and 4.1 README.TXT file: To use the same print region as previous versions of the HP DeskJet Series printer drivers, check the “Print Region” check box in the INI Configuration program. For instructions on using the INI Configuration program, see the section on INI file modification in this README file. NOTE: With this change, text on printed pages containing color will be shifted up from what you see on your screen. The printable area on a page using the HP DeskJet 500 Series printer driver differs from the printable area allowed by DOS applications."
