FAX: Communication Error with SatisFAXtion Modem 200

SYMPTOMS

When using version 3.0 of the Microsoft Mail Gateway to FAX you may receive “Connection Error” when using the Intel SatisFAXtion/200 board.

CAUSE

This was caused by a driver problem.

RESOLUTION

Intel has produced new drivers for the Intel SatisFAXtion/200 board. The driver is called DOWNLOAD.200. Copy the driver to your boot disk drive and place it in the root directory.

MORE INFORMATION

The driver also solves other problems that you sometimes encounter when using the Intel SatisFAXtion Software without the Microsoft FAX Gateway. A list of the problems resolved is contained in the README.TXT file you can download with the driver.

Intel’s FAXBack Service, which allows you to download the driver, requires a touch-tone phone and the Intel SatisFAXtion board.

Here are general directions for using the FAXBack Service:

1. Boot the computer with the FAX board and start the Intel SatisFAXtion Software.
2. Dial the FAXBack Service at (800) 525-3019 (using a touch-tone phone).
3. Follow the voice directions for the download service. The document number to download is number 0028. The system prompts for the phone number to the Intel SatisFAXtion board.
4. Hang up and the driver is downloaded to Intel SatisFAXtion board immediately. (The board software status indicates when the download is done.
5. Select the Receive attachment option and read the README file.
6. Copy the new DOWNLOAD.200 file to the boot disk drive and place it in the root directory. (A: or C:)
